Snow Day?? No way! Way!

Snow, lots of snow greeted us Tuesday morning. It snowed all day. We haven't seen snow like this since 2000 when we were snowed in our townhouse for one solid week. Okay, it snowed only six inches today compared with two feet in 2000, but this is a big deal.

We promised Maddie "outside" after teasing her by letting her look into the backyard and seeing her swing and slide covered with the white stuff. Luckily, her friend Noah only lives two houses away and he was equally interested in seeing what all the fuss was about.

Maddie kept asking for the third little amigo -- "Ste Dot" (Stella Dot). But I kept explaining that Stella Dot wasn't feeling well. We missed you, Ste Dot!

Hang on to your hats, folks. We have tons of photos. Too many. But Maddie's first Snow Day was full of firsts.

Maddie and Noah explore the cul-de-sac.

Janet teaches Maddie the fine art of making snowballs.

After our first outing in the snow -- yes, I said first -- we decided to visit with Noah and his family a little longer in the warmth of their house. After the wet clothes came off, Maddie was left in her German tights (strumpfhosen). They were warm and comfy and everyone liked the snail pic on her "butt-butt." It says Little Snail in German! She enjoyed lots and lots of apples with Noah (see their blog).

Six whole inches!

Family snow day!

Robin wanted to show the kids how to sled, so we had a trash can lid and a hill. This should be easy, right? Not really!

Of course, Maddie had to try sledding also. Janet tries to push her down the small hill.

  1. Good morning Scholle-familiy in the US,
We can imagine that Maddie had a lot of fun with the unexpected and rare white splendour. Let her enjoy the snow. We have got much of snow and coldness too this year and outside it´s very slippery. It´so not so funny with a injured leg. But I am recovering.

    Many greetings
    Oma and Opa
