Three Days of Dresses and Fun: Maddie's 3rd Birthday

Maddie turned three years old on January 25th. But the 25th was actually the third day of birthday fun for her and all of us. Here is a recap:

Day 1: Saturday
Grandmama and Grandaddy visited us and enjoyed Maddie's enormous cupcake/birthday cake. I flaked out last year and got her a bakery cake, but really wanted to make her a giant cupcake. This year, I was ready...and ambitious. The two-piece cake turned out really well and the homemade strawberry buttercream icing was even better. YUM!

Playtime and lunch before nap and cake and presents after nap. Who could ask for more??!! Oh yeah, and that's her birthday headband that she's worn every single year on her birthday. It spells out Happy Birthday...and makes me laugh.

Mason and Grandaddy needed a break, so they headed outside.

Day 2: Sunday
Noah and Stella Dot and families (we missed you Grant) came over for cupcakes. (I was going to bake another cake but ended up making 30 cupcakes that day!) It was awesome to have us all "together again" for the first time
since summer. The kids had a fantastic time with some squealing, flying balloons that Noah gave Maddie. It was so hysterical watching them and hearing them talking. "Another balloon is coming, come on!"

Dress number two on the birthday girl.

This was in response to the question, "Who wants cupcakes?" Silly question.

Day 3:
I took cupcakes to Maddie's class and teachers for their afternoon snack. Maddie's birthday is one day after her "boyfriend," Anderson's. So we had a joint birthday party at school and his Mom brought the juice and fruit snacks. Once the kids were all sugared up, Maddie and I left early.

I told her that we had a few hours of special time and we could do anything she wanted. Her response? "I want to go to the food store and get some chicken nuggets." Seriously??
So that's what we did!!

Later that night, she opened presents from us. Here she is with her new Mary Jane house slippers!

Happy Birthday, my sweetness! I can't believe what a big girl you already are!!
